About Mrs Jones

I believe that there is not a one size fits all approach to learning, and since COVID-19 many students have fallen behind, missed vital content, and lost confidence in school. I offer an enthusiastic, supportive, learning process backed by the latest scientific research on Teaching and Learning, and it can all be done from the comfort of your own home.

Hi, I’m Lizzie, otherwise known as Mrs Jones. I graduated from Portsmouth University in 2017 with a 1st Class BSc (Hons) Mathematics Degree, and again in 2019 with my PGCE in Secondary Mathematics Teaching. After graduating, I gained a job as a Teacher of Mathematics in a local Secondary School and have been labelled as an ‘excelling’ teacher that consistently goes above and beyond!

Prior to attending University, I gained 13 GCSE’s including A*’s in Mathematics and English from Weald of Kent Grammar School, and A-Levels in Sociology, Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Physics from Mascalls School.

I have been tutoring KS2/KS3/KS4 Level 1-2-1 since I was 16 years old, as I have always had a passion for Mathematics and enjoyed learning how best to teach and explain concepts to a wide variety of people.

Whilst in Sixth Form I began spending time in the classroom as a teaching assistant for KS3 year groups and had the opportunity to gain paid work experience as a small group intervention tutor. This experience was invaluable to me and ignited the fire in me today, to be the best teacher I can be and to facilitate the learning of ALL pupils.

I expanded my tutoring services to include A-Level whilst at University studying Mathematics, and whilst I no longer offer A-Level services, I do have sound knowledge of the content and curriculum and can help prepare students looking to study A-Level and degree level mathematics. I also began learning more about practices and strategies to support students with SEND, such as ASD, ADHD, dyslexia and dyscalculia, and this has since become a strength of mine. I believe that everybody should have access to knowledge and the opportunity to learn, and it’s important as practitioners to understand, transform, and tailor the way we teach each student in order to bring out the best in them!

Since becoming a full-time teacher in 2019, I have continued to tutor privately and specialise in GCSE tuition. The COVID-19 pandemic enabled me to learn a lot about blended learning models and remote learning practices, and this is where Mrs Jones Maths Tutoring was ‘officially’ born!
